Truck driver dies after vehicle rollover

A ROKEBY man has died after a truck crash near Brighton this morning.

Tasmania Police said a 55-year-old man had died after the crash on Tea Tree Road near the Tea Tree Fire Station about 10.10am.

The white Mack concrete truck was travelling west on Tea Tree Road towards Brighton when it went off the road after rounding a right-hand bend.

The truck rolled onto its side and slid down an embankment into a power pole.

The driver went through the windscreen during the crash, police said.

A member of the public helped the driver until paramedics and the Tasmania Fire Service arrived.

The man was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition, but died from his injuries.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicle travelling prior to the crash on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
