Truck hits infamous South Melbourne bridge again
VICROADS issued another reminder about the height of the infamous Montague Street bridge in South Melbourne after another truck hit it yesterday, causing mid-afternoon chaos.
According to the Herald Sun, the truck appeared to have slammed into the overpass, despite warning signs and red flags leading up to it.
The reminder of "This is a 3.0 metre clearance" comes after a long line of oversized vehicles failed to just the height of the bridge or their loads, slamming into the structure on various occasions.
Website How Many Days Since the Montague Street Bridge Has Been Hit, which is dedicated to the tallying the number of times the "Monty" has been on the receiving end of a smash, lists October 9 as the previous crash date.
Unfortunately, the @MontagueStBridg has been hit again 🤦 The right lane's closed beach-bound on the approach. Please follow the direction of @VictoriaPolice and drive with care. Just a reminder, this is a 3.0 metre clearance. #victraffic #knowyourclearance pic.twitter.com/VTnvLvePYh— VicTraffic (@VicTraffic) November 6, 2019
