A TRUCK driver who dumped eight loads of toxic waste at a Sydney site in direct violation of a court order has escaped jail time.
Dib Abdallah Hanna, 37, upended 80 tonnes of waste containing asbestos at a Picnic Point Property in April last year.
The property owner, who did not give Hanna permission to dump the waste on his land, had to pay a contractor more than $13,000 to remove it.
Hanna initially denied driving the truck to the property but changed his story after EPA officers showed him CCTV footage.
According to the Herald, Hanna had eight prior convictions for illegally transporting waste and had been issued with 22 penalty notices for similar offences.
He pleaded guilty in the NSW Land and Environment Court on Thursday to failing to follow a court order not to dump asbestos and was given a three-month suspended jail sentence.
