Racing: They're off and racing at Treasure Park this Saturday, with the Moranbah Race Club hosting their June winter carnival meeting in conjunction with the Moranbah Workers Club - the major sponsors of the meeting.

Ash Dowd, of the Moranbah Workers Club, said the club was proud to continue supporting racing in Moranbah, with country racing being an important social staple within the community.

Moranbah Race Club president John Juhas is anticipating a big day with strong pre-sale tickets and table bookings and has solid support from sponsors including the CFMEU who have sponsored the benchmark 55 handicap.

Gates open at 11am and after the races there will be a live band performing. Free buses will be running back and forth to the Moranbah Workers Club before and after the races.

The three big names in country racing will be saddling up multiple runners at Treasure Park Saturday - current country Queensland premier trainer Bevan Johnson, the long time king of Treasure Park John Manzelmann and Ooralea Park in Mackay first lady Olivia Cairns. The trio's showdown comes ahead of next weekend's $100,000 battle of the bush final in Brisbane.

Cairns now has two runners qualified, Stellar Knight and Masons Chance, after making the 1204 kilometre round trip to Barcaldine to snare last place in the rich Battle of the Bush final with Mason's Chance. Her two runners will join Manzelmann's runner Gingersnap and Johnson's Exstratum and Fabs Cowboy and 12 other runners in the $100,000 Battle of The Bush final at Doomben on June 23 on Tatts Tiara Day.

The Battle of The Bush series has been a great boost for grassroots level racing.

Cairns, Manzelmann and Johnson will enjoy barrier draws and pre-race functions, giving all participating country trainers the feel of big race lead-up.

On Saturday the three collide in the $10,000 1550 metre feature event, the Moranbah Community Workers Club benchmark 60 handicap.

Cairns saddles up Prequel, who is in great form. Johnson lines up with last start Tambo Cup runner up Money Ad, who looks well placed after Adin Thompson's 3kg claim.

Manzelmann lines up with last start Bluff Newmarket second placegetter Kwanza, who worked home solidly behind the Bluff Newmarket winner the Glenda Bell-trained Onemore Bopa. On that effort, it has strong each way claims in the program's feature race.
