Traffic chaos as truck fire closes M5

A TRUCK fire on the M5 has caused traffic chaos this morning, with queues of cars up to two kilometres long.

Emergency services were called to the fire on the M5 east at the Bexley Road off ramp just after 7am.

 

The fire has since been extinguished and there are no injuries, but all westbound lanes between General Holmes Drive and the King Georges Road are closed.

Heavy tow trucks are on the scene.

Motorists have been detoured, but traffic queues of up two kilometres remain at peak hour.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use diversions.
