Toy paradise available free for local kids
IN THE coming weeks, the region's families will have the option to rent toys for free after three fabulous women banded together to create the Roma Toy Library.
Located at the Church of Christ, doors will open Tuesday, February 12, and families will be able to choose up to three toy sets from an abundance of categories, including sand play, water play, construction and shapes, pretend play, music and movement, gross motor toys, early numeracy and literacy.
Roma Toy Library founder Nat Cooksley said the library was a free resource so families on all income levels could have the opportunity to play with fun and stimulating toys.
"The joy of it is that you can try things before you consider buying them, and you can try toys that you might not have always been able to afford and often they are very high quality and educational, so it gives you ideas that could be useful to have in the home,” she said.
"I thought it would be a fairly straightforward thing to set up that could benefit a lot of families, so I asked a few of my friends, Carissa and Kate, and they were more than happy to help out.
"We've had a lot of donations from the community, who have given us brand new and good used toys as well.
"I'm really excited for the opening day, I can't wait to see the library grow.”
