TWENTY B-double transporters were watched by tens of thousands as they drove through Townsville streets two days before the Watpac 400 V8 Supercars racing event.

The convoy took place on July 5 and commenced at Webb Drive, and proceeded down Shaw Road, the Ring Road, Hervey Range Road, Ross River Road and Charters Towers Road before entering Boundary Street and Reid Park.

Thousands of onlookers turned out for the convoy.

One of the favourites was "Mack The Transporter” from the Disney movie Cars, which was especially popular with young spectators.

Not every race venue has a transport convoy like this.

Townsville came alive to the roar of high powered engines, the smell of high octane fuel and the need for speed.
