Greenmount to hold charity concert

ON THE eve of the first anniversary of the January floods, the Greenmount community is coming together to raise money for the town's flood-damaged memorial hall.

The hall's underground drainage system was damaged during last year's rain event and $100,000 is needed to fix it.

Bob Frappell, whose Clear Mountain Fairview thoroughbred horse stud is based in Greenmount, says the hall was an important part of the town's identity.

"To keep it in the area it needs to be used, and it hasn't been used much since the floods," Mr Frappell said. "There are issues with the drainage and $100,000 is needed to fix it up."

To try and raise some of the funds needed to repair the building, Mr Frappell has organised a country music concert on Saturday night at the hall, featuring Golden Guitar nominee Rod Williams and up-and-coming musicians Lana Ross and Melissa Partridge.

Tickets for the concert cost $15, with all proceeds to go towards repairing the Greenmount Memorial Hall.

The concert starts at 6pm and tickets can be pre-purchased by calling 0417 798 788.
