Tottenham suffer defeat

TOTTENHAM'S Champions League aspirations were dealt a massive blow after a 2-1 home defeat by Norwich City.

Spurs' defeat, combined with a 2-0 win over relegation-haunted Bolton for in-form Newcastle, allowed the Magpies climb to level on points with the Londoners.

Only goal difference has Harry Redknapp's men in fourth - the final Champions League spot.

Newcastle's Papiss Cisse kept up his sensational scoring form with his ninth goal in 10 games following on from a wonder strike from French star Hatem Ben Arfa.

Chelsea's bid for fourth also took a blow as it was held to a 1-1 draw with London rival Fulham, seeing the Blues slip to sixth.

Frank Lampard scored his 150th goal for the club but it was not enough to secure the three points as Clint Dempsey hit his 21st goal of the season to snatch a point for the home team.

Everton warmed up for the weekend's FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool with a 4-0 home win over Sunderland.

Aston Villa and Stoke drew 1-1.
