Toowoomba garden blooms for artist
ARTIST Colleen Gardener said she couldn't have asked for a more picturesque setting as she spent the day painting in one of The Chronicle's Exhibition Gardens.
Mrs Gardener spent the whole day in Philip and Marjorie Martin's garden at 17 Dallang Rd painting their magnificent garden and she couldn't have been happier.
"I've died and gone to heaven!" she said.
She is one of four artists exhibiting work in Welcome to our Garden at the Kath Dickson Community Art Space.
The four women, including Jennifer Marshall, Jean Heeks and Dawn Marriage, are a group of friends from Warwick showing their work together in Toowoomba for the second time.
Only painting seriously for three years, Mrs Gardener said she had always loved capturing the outdoors.
"I love flowers...they're like people with individual faces and are so bright and happy."
Each of the women will spend the next few days in the gardens paintings, including the McKee's garden at 3 Culliford Dr, the Deans garden at 41 Stenner St and the Holts garden at 10 Rocky Ridge Crt.
The Chronicle Exhibition Gardens are open to the public until September 25.
