Toowoomba driver achieves career first

SPEEDWAY: Tim Smith's speedway career reached new heights when the former junior champion claimed his maiden senior state title.

The Toowoomba driver powered to victory in the Queensland Production Sedan Titles at Rockhampton last Saturday.

Having raced Production Sedans since graduating from Junior Sedans, where he won both a Queensland and Northern Territory title, the 21-year-old was thrilled to achieve his third career state title, in what was his first visit to the Rockhampton Showground venue.

"I couldn't be happier to have achieved my first state title in senior competition,” he said.

"It's such a great result for the team after all of the hard work they've put into the car.”

With the majority of Production Sedans being Fords and Holdens, Smith's team has stepped outside of the norm with their unique Nissan Skyline.
