Today show to broadcast weather from marina next week

THE Fraser Coast will receive another boost in national exposure with the Today show and a Best Jobs in the World winner set to visit next week.

Fraser Coast Opportunities said the Nine Network's Today program would broadcast its popular weather segment live from Hervey Bay Marina on September 17 to help promote the local whale watching industry.

The promotion is part of a Harvey and the Humpbacks tourism marketing campaign by Tourism and Events Queensland and Fraser Coast Opportunities, the region's new peak body for tourism, marketing, events and investment attraction.

Elisa Detrez, who won Queensland's park ranger position as part of Tourism Australia's Best Jobs in the World campaign, will also be in the region for a whale watching experience and tour of Fraser Island.

The 28-year-old from France, who beat almost 10,000 applicants for the position, is showcasing Queensland's national parks and world heritage areas to the world through blogs and social media until February.

"These latest national promotions follow on from other valuable national exposure this season," Fraser Coast Opportunities tourism manager Robbie Cornelius said.
