Time to live the good life

ILUKA'S Living the Good Life Festival is promising to be even bigger and better this year.

Festival organiser Anja Light said the festival's theme this year was “simple pleasures”.

“The best things in life really are free,” she said.

“Surfing, walking, fishing, singing, kite flying, dancing, bike riding, cooking, drawing, gardening – there are so many simple, inexpensive and gentle ways to live well and nurture a vibrant community.”

The Living the Good Life Festival is being organised by Iluka Boardriders and will be held over the weekend of September 17-18.

The event will be launched with a bicycle ride from Woombah to Iluka.

Ms Light said the festival would combine entertainment and stalls at the local sports field, along with a day of fun at the beach.

She is strongly encouraging local businesses, organisations and individuals to get involved.

“We are calling for interest from groups, businesses and individuals who would be interested in a public display to promote their sustainable lifestyle activities,” she said.

“Those activities could include solar power providers, local food producers, organic gardeners and backyard livestock experts.

“We are also calling on volunteers to assist in organising the event and help out on the day.”

Ms Light said last year's festival was a huge success that attracted thousands of locals and visitors to Iluka.

She said the festival attracted the right sort of crowd because the activities were entertaining and family friendly, and provided an opportunity to be inspired.

“This year we're looking forward to expanding our scope and working with even more community groups and businesses dedicated to promoting a healthy, happy, sustainable way of life,” she said.
