IT'S a chance to be part of sporting history.

GC2018 Commonwealth Games volunteer applications close at 8pm on Monday, March 20.

Sally Bullock, mother of Save Lives Donate Organs founder Brett Bullock, has put her hand up to help out.

The Robina resident donated her kidney to son Brett a few years ago and is one of the thousands of applications received by Games organisers.

Brett turns 30 in April - he was 21 when his Mum gave him a new lease on life.

Sally says she's willing to accept any volunteer position at the Games.

"I'm 65 and retired," she said.

"I've always been interested in sport, that's why I was nominated.

"I'm very well versed on the Gold Coast roads and streets."

Sally is a particular fan of swimming and tennis.

Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) reports that the youngest volunteer applicant is 16, and the oldest 91.

Volunteers must be available from April 4 to 15, 2018.

The largest sports competition schedule in the history of the Commonwealth Games will be released one year out from the Games on April 4.
