Three people dead on the Bruce Highway in one day

ONE man is dead following a two vehicle crash north of Innisfail in Queensland last night.

The man was driving a sedan about 10.35pm on the Bruce Hwy about 500m south of Waughs Pocket Rd when his vehicle and a truck collided.

Police say the man, 22, from Innisfail died at the scene.

His 21-year-old male passenger received non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Cairns Hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash which saw the Bruce Hwy closed for a few hours overnight.

Now the forensic crash unit will investigate.

Earlier in the day, two people died after another serious traffic crash on the Bruce Hwy about three kilometres south of Barratta Creek.

Several people were also injured in the crash which saw a 4WD and a bus collide about 3.30pm.

The highway was closed for several hours following the crash.
