This is what we want for our parking bays
TRUCKIES are stumped at why making good rest stops is such a hard thing to do.
Driver Lachy MacDonald said he'd seen "so many stretches of bitumen left over from realignment or roadwork detours that have been blocked or trenches dug at each end” and was puzzled as to why they couldn't be left for truck drivers to use.
"They are as wide as the Dinmore pads so I'm thinking they must have a reason not to use a piece of infrastructure that's already there?”
His thoughts were in line with other truckies, such as Trevor Warner who pointed out the same thing in a recent story in Big Rigs. He just wanted politicians to understand truckies didn't need expensive parking bays.
Paul Crocker was a bit cynical in his wish for not-so-lavish rest-stop bays, pointing out that "the better the parking, the more chance it will be full of caravans”.
