Thieves steal car and medication from local doctor service

BRAZEN thieves have put the community's health at risk after breaking in and ransacking the Sunshine Coast House Call Doctor depot overnight.

The thieves stole a car and the keys to another after breaking in just after 11.30pm and also took phones and thousands of dollars in medication including antibiotics and anti-nausea medication.

House Call Doctor chief operating officer Craig Glover said the crime was a disgraceful attack on a service relied on by thousands across the Coast and Gympie regions.

The stolen medications did not include any painkillers and had no street value, according to Mr Glover.

"All this does is disrupt a very important service and we are working hard today to make sure we are back on the road and making house calls tonight,” he said.

"Services like House Call Doctor are helping keep people out of hospital emergency departments.

"If we treat a patient at home instead of them going to an emergency department it saves the healthcare system on average $240 more,” he said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 13 14 44.
