Thieves raid Coast home of $50,000 in collectables

A COAST man was stunned to arrive home to find $50,000 worth of unique and quirky items had been stolen by opportunistic thieves.

Alan Paterson walked into his Glenview home to discover the thieves had helped themselves to some of his most prized possessions.

He claims the stolen items he specifically imported are worth a combined $50,000 and is offering a reward to see them returned.

Naturally he was shocked to see the items stolen, which has since turned into anger and frustration.

"It was only a few weeks before Christmas and apparently they tried robbing the neighbour's place first," Mr Paterson said.

"They ended up in my place and had a good look around unfortunately.

"They loaded up everything into my trailer and took off.

"I have got the trailer back, the police found it dumped at Donnybrook but the items are long gone.

"For someone to just waltz in and steal them is obviously very frustrating."

Among the items are a vintage Indian Chief Motorcycle, a Pirates of the Caribbean pinball machine, a Sound Leisure jukebox and three Bruhn televisions.

The motorcycle is something he had wanted since he was a teenager and he didn't even get a chance to ride it.

"I have always wanted that particular bike. It is the first non-Harley Davidson bike ever made and to me it is a work of art," he said with a twinge of sadness.

"The jukebox and pinball machine are similar. I guess I like the nostalgia side of things. I like retro items with a bit of character about them.

"I didn't even get a chance to ride my bike, it has zero kilometres on it. And the jukebox was left in my garage on the pallet.

"They were all really unique items too. The motorbike is only one of 35 in Australia and didn't even have any kilometres on it. It was brand spanking new.

"The jukebox is one of a dozen or so. And the UK-version pinball machine is possibly the only one available in this country."

If anyone knows any details about the items Mr Paterson can be contacted on 0404 583 781.
