The drink which can help you reach health and fitness goals

HEALTH AND FITNESS: As a self-proclaimed coffee addict I find it hard to believe there are adults in this world that do not enjoy a nice cup of brew a few times a day.

Even through the deliciousness of coffee and the plethora of health benefits it provides, it's hard to believe these anti-coffee people amongst us still exist.

Just because you may be self-willing to forgo coffee, this doesn't mean you cannot find benefit in hot drinks; from coffee's regal cousin, tea.

Broadening our horizons from just our English breakfast, tea is a drink made by infusing ingredients in hot water.

There are specific ingredients that are made for teas that provide a number of specific benefits and timed appropriately they can have an enormous impact on our health, well-being, and performance.

KICKSTARTING THE MIND AND GUT: Ginger and lemon tea is a great way to kickstart your morning and give your mind and stomach a head start.

In addition to many other health benefits, ginger can increase blood flow to the brain delivering higher amounts of oxygen and nutrient rich blood.

Whilst lemon and ginger both work together to ramp up your digestive system and improve your immunity for the day.

RAISE YOUR FOCUS AND METABOLISM: Green tea is rich in caffeine and other stimulants which can undoubtedly increase your focus throughout the day.

These components of green tea will also increase your resting metabolic rate, which will see you burn more energy throughout the day and may help shed those extra few kilos you've been looking to lose.

SLEEP TIGHT: At the end of a day two tea ingredients that can rest the mind and body are chamomile and lavender.

The use of chamomile to improve sleep and beat insomnia can be dated to the ancient Egyptians; whilst lavenders aromatherapy properties within its natural oils have been found to offer calming and soothing qualities to help improve sleep and wind down after a stressful day.

Even if you're of the minority who do not thoroughly enjoy coffee (though it thoroughly confuses me how you exist without it) there are alternatives to a coffee brew.

A cuppa is a fantastic way to improve specific areas of your health, well-being, and performance; but don't forgot to stick your pinky out whilst you sip away at your tea.
