Crowds brave the rain for Teddy Bears' Picnic

DESPITE a wet start to the day the annual Teddy Bears' Picnic welcomed a record crowd of people braving the rain.

Bundaberg Regional Council community services spokeswoman Judy Peters said organisers had estimated 1500 people at the event before the rain arrived, but even at the end of the function there were still about 800 people there.

Cr Peters said Alexandra Park was alive with children enjoying the school holidays and loving the opportunity to show off their favourite teddy.

"Mums and dads and grandparents joined in the fun and the opportunity to participate in the Teddy Bears' Parade," she said.

Cr Peters said the Old MacDonalds Farm display was a centerpiece attraction with children queued to pet the baby animals.
