Ted Van Fleet

A PIECE of CVIAQ history has been lost with the peaceful passing of founding member and first president, Mr Ted Van Fleet.

Mr Van Fleet died December 18, 2011 aged 84 years.

The family held a private funeral and on December 28 a memorial was held to give friends and colleagues the chance to say their goodbyes.

Ted was a leading player in establishing the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ) in 1970.

He was the association's chairman in its founding year and was CVIAQ's first president, a position he held until 1972.

Ted also played a significant role in establishing associations in other states and forming the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Australia (CVIAA).
