PASSING by the Epping Forest Truckstop/Roadhouse the other day we were happy to run into Tristan Cass from Perth.
He was driving a 2012 R560 Scania SRT Distribution Argosy, and towing a B-double on his way from Hobart back to Launceston at the time.
Tristan was able to inform us that the Tassie Truckies Memorial Wall Inc will have its official opening on Sunday, January 18 at 11am, at the Epping Forest Roadhouse site and all arrangements are going well so far.
Bob Hadley will be on hand to declare the site open, and O'Driscolls are running a free coach up from Hobart stopping on the way to pick up people. Contact Wayne to get a ride.
There will be 20 of the state's best rigs there on the day to pay their respects. There will be bagpipes, children's activities, and there will be a barbecue on site.
On behalf of Tony and the wall committee, Tristan would like to thank the many Tasmanian companies that have donated materials and time and all who have assisted make this wall at long last a reality, and incidentally to have a wonderful Christmas.
