PASSING by Mood Food, the Caltex 24 hour Truck Stop at Kempton the other day, we were delighted to catch up with our old mate Rick Peterson from Dulcot.
Recently returned from a month's holiday in the US where he had attended the Daytona 500, he told us: "Well I have to admit I am a bit of a petrol head, and I got my HC licence at 19, and I've been driving ever since, and loving it, especially on the roads here in Tasmania”.
He pulled in for a refreshment break in an immaculate SRT Logistics' 2014 330 series RG 560 V-8 Scania, and towing a fridge pan on his way from Hobart to catch the Spirit of Tasmania at Devonport, with fresh Tasmanian produce for the mainland, and then return via Launceston.
"I've been driving for SRT for two years and a bit now, and I am truly loving it, doing afternoon shifts five days a week. SRT are a great local outfit operating top well maintained, gear and they really look after their drivers, and you couldn't ask for more than that now days!”
Away from the road, Rick said he has a five acre property at Dulcot and that keeps him busy on his time off. He is also a performance driving instructor on track days at Paskerville Raceway, and is involved with Targa.
