"WELL I have only been here for a couple of months,” Paul Wildhorse from Hobart told us the other day when he rolled in to Epping Forest driving a 12-year-old Allalong Transport Western Star FX 4800 and towing a B-double.
"But so far I'd have to say it's seems a great outfit and job! I was seven-and-a-half years with Eugene McCarthy prior to this, and I'd have to say they are sorely missed - they were much more a family than a job!”
He was towing a B-double from Burnie on his return leg to Hobart, and had dropped in for a quick refreshment break.
He added: "Well they are keeping us busy and I am out on the road again with Matthew, and we are flat out. The Star is a great old rig, plenty of kilometres on the clock on her original engine and a pleasure to drive. The work is state wide, and with a fair bit of variety, so it's all good!”
When asked about time off, he said: "Basically grab a bit of shade and take it easy!”
