Tassie Truckin': John Townsend

"WELL folks can, and often do, say what they like about carting livestock,” Johnno Townsend, from Campbelltown said.

"But personally I still reckon it's a top job and I can't imagine doing anything else now.”

He had just rolled into Epping Forest driving an eye-catching 2016 Hingston Transport's 4800 FX Western Star Constellation with an 18 Speed ISX E5 550 Cummins up front, towing a Dickinson 4 deck stock trailer on his way home from Cressy at the time.

"Happily I'm on my way home now and looking forward to knocking off for the day,” he said.

"I've been with Hingston's for three great years now, and it's a really good job (sometimes Nick!), you get out and about and meet some interesting people, keep in touch with what is going on out there, and see some pretty amazing country at times.

"Hingston's really are a top Tasmanian outfit and they only operate the best gear.

"I've been on the road now for about 13 years all up, and I wouldn't choose to do anything else.”

Asked about time off, he gave us a bit of a smile. "Mostly relaxing you could say!”
