RELUCTANT to be photographed because of his "dirty truck” the other day, Barry Clarke from Oatlands agreed with a "well okay then”.

We pointed out that a truck which works in the forests gathering, and then delivering, fire wood would be pretty rare if it wasn't dirty.

He had been delivering a load of wood to a customer in Collinsvale the other day during a brief break in the weather driving his 2002 Mitsubishi four-wheel-drive Canter with a long body tipper when we flagged him down.

"Well I do find this the ideal truck for the job,” Barry told us.

"Big enough for my needs, and reliable and great out in the bush where I work up on the Western Tiers.

"Fair bit of snow up there too at the moment, and that makes life interesting, but she handles it all, no worries.

"And they are certainly keeping me busy just now, in fact the firewood keeps me busy most of the year, though I do knock off to cart grain during the harvesting season.”

It is hard to imagine Barry not being busy, or for that matter, happy. It was pointless to ask him about time off...
