NEW CANDIDATE: Tanya Bandow will stand for Division 2 in the Local Government Election.

Tanya Bandow is a new candidate for Division 2

TANYA Bandow is building an election platform based on respect, honesty and ethical action.

Why? Because she believes secrecy and a lack of transparency have been features of the current administration and she wants this to change.

"I have witnessed it first-hand. Yes, they will look at you in the face and tell you something (but) it's not the case," she said.

Ms Bandow will stand for Division 2, against current councillor John Atkinson and newcomer to the political race, Ron Petterson.

A Cannonvale community member of some 15 years, Ms Bandow has also been actively involved in local business.

"I believe my strong analytical, financial and business background will add a valuable skillset to the council forum and decision-making processes," she said.

Ms Bandow says the current council has "ignored" the regular needs of the community in favour of "grandiose" projects.

She cited the failed Chinatown development on Waterson Way and council not prioritising kerb-side recycling as examples of this.

Ms Bandow said council had the "cart before the horse".

"You put these big buildings up but you don't have the infrastructure to support it," she said.

"It's the smaller things that matter to families that need to be addressed."

The highly-motivated businesswoman believes she has much to offer the region.

"I thrive on being busy... and love getting projects across the line," she said.

Division 2 is an area she feels "most attached to, because of the families I know in this area".
