Talent was overflowing at the Dalby Drama Festival
WHOEVER said theatre is a dying art form has clearly never been to the Dalby Drama Festival.
The Dalby Players Little Theatre was quite literally overflowing with people this afternoon in the festival's first of three instalments.
It was a fantastic session of dramatic, comedic and hugely entertaining plays by Beenleigh Theatre Youth, Roar Academy at Redcliffe and the Dalby Players Little Theatre Inc.
The festival adjudicator for 2017 is Tracey Kriz, a practising director, choreographer, actress, vocalist and dancer from the Gold Coast Production Company.
Ms Triz said the talent on stage during the Saturday afternoon performance was exceptional.
"I'm very excited by some of the talent I've seen today - it was exceptional work,” Ms Triz said.
"There's a whole heap of genres that are explored, and topics that are explored, and even the different ages we're seeing on the stage.
"Everybody's going to enjoy the two days of the festival, I'm sure, because what I've seen so far has been amazing,” she said.
The Dalby Players performed The Myall Creek Crop Circle Caper this afternoon, a comedy written by Hugh O'Brien.
Set on the Darling Downs, this play had the local audience members captivated with its comedic references to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, the roads between Dalby and Toowoomba, the Dalby Drama Festival, Hay's Jewellers, the Chronicle and even our very own Dalby Herald.
It was a funny, clever and entertaining performance - the Dalby Players should be proud.

Session three will be at 10am tomorrow morning and the trophy presentation will be at 1pm tomorrow.
