TODAY is the day all analogue televisions will be switched off and the digital revolution is officially launched.

The big switch will occur at 9am today, so for those who have not yet purchased a digital television or a set-top box, you may find yourselves watching a blank screen.

Two happy chaps who will be enjoying the benefits of digital television are Angus and Campbell Ridley.

Angus said he was thrilled he could keep watching his favourite channels on his digital television.

"ABC 3 is my favourite," Angus said.

"I like Power Rangers and Star Wars the Clone Wars and Rated A for Awesome."

Campbell was also relieved to learn he did not have to stop watching his favourite television shows and said his favourite television programs were It's a Knockout and Transformers.

The boys both agreed it would have been horrible if they had to have their televisions switched off and were glad their home was digi-ready, but Mum Karlie said the rules still apply.

"Television's still for the weekends, not after school," Mrs Ridley said.

"But it would have been horrible if we had to switch it off," she said.

Televisions and set-top boxes are still available from local electrical stores, with set-top boxes starting from as little as $40.
