Sparkles the Fairy moving on to study criminology

WHEN life gives you lemons, find a juicer and make lemonade.

Sparkles the Fairy, otherwise known as Sheryl Kenny, has sworn to live by this message after regrettably announcing the termination of her beloved business, Ink Kidz Facepainting.

Grins have been left from ear to ear since 2012, yet her children's entertainment alter-ego will sadly be put to rest this coming January.

The decision was made after being diagnosed with epilepsy last year.

Ms Kenny wanted to take some time to redirect her focus on raising her children.

"I kept Sparkles, because Sparkles got me through when I was in costume," she said.

"I am trying to rebuild the stability for my family now and something had to give, and unfortunately it had to be Ink Kidz."

However, instead of dwelling on the closure of her escape, Ms Kenny has decided to focus on the situation positively.

The economic downturn has hung heavily on to the businesses of our region; yet Ms Kenny says a positive attitude made all the difference.

Ms Kenny said the one thing that gets her through the day was remembering her accomplishments along the way.

She is set to bite down on the lemon thrown, to go forward and study criminology.

"What doesn't kill me only teaches me a lesson," she said.

"I love my job and I love my Sparkles character, but I need to focus on what is important to me at the moment, and that is my children."

"It's really hard to say as a business what advice I have to offer, except for in a bad situation keep going.

"The sun will shine whether it takes five years, five minutes, two days or two weeks. At the end of the tunnel, if you believe, there will be light."

Sparkles will continue to entertain until January, to lead up to a proper goodbye.
