Surfing champ's challenge for Mackay
SURFING legend Layne Beachley will be in Mackay later in the year to speak to business owners at a meeting of the Mackay Club at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.
The Mackay Club is a newly-created venture combining business, networking and entertainment in one exclusive members-only club for Mackay businesses, sponsored by the City Centre and Harvey Norman Furniture.
Three events will be held at the MECC this year, each one featuring a special guest speaker. The second speaker, appearing on November 13, is a seven-time surfing world champion who is also an entrepreneur who has overcome chronic fatigue syndrome and depression in her journey to where she is today.
Layne said she looks forward to a lively interaction with the audience in Mackay. "The audience can expect to be inspired, I'm a very no-holds-barred style of presenter, so I'm very honest, you can expect to learn what it takes to become the best in the world and then be able to sustain that success, determining what it takes to become the best version of yourself.
"I'll be challenging people's thoughts around what they think they are capable of, then giving them a different perspective on what it takes to succeed. I'll be talking about some of the challenges I have faced and how they fuelled my competitive spirit.
"I enjoy speaking to audiences who are energetic and enthusiastic, and give me energy as well, I tend to bounce off my audience.”
