New childcare centre opens in Surat

A NEW childcare centre opened in Surat on Tuesday after an $800,000 refurbishment of the town's RSL building.

The refurbishment was funded by grants from Maranoa Regional Council and the State Government.

The centre has been transferred to service provider FGPMoreton Inc.

The RSL building has been converted into the new childcare facility.

Early childhood teacher and centre director Megan Nass said the service had been designed to cater for the needs and interests of young children.

FGPMoreton Inc secretary Pauline Newton said without the support of Maranoa Regional Council the continued operation of the service would not have been possible.

She said she was looking forward to the first children starting this week.
