Superfoods: Look the same as junk food on the way out
Hey Experts...make up your minds!
I read an article last week that revealed that there is no such thing as 'Superfoods' and that we've been ripped off for all these years.
Turns out sitting at my desk at the QT munching away on overpriced Chia seeds, Goji Berries and Pomegranate juice was a complete waste of time and money.
Then while watching the Olympics an ad came on (surprisingly NOT for a show that was screening 'After the Olympics'.....ever heard of the word 'Overkill' Channel 7?) for some vitamins on special somewhere, and I noticed the on the packaging it states 'Based on Scientific Evidence'.
So let me get this right....even all the multi vitamins I take are not good for me because there is no credible, conclusive scientific research to back it up?
Now I'm confused. Can somebody help me make sense of all this?
I'm constantly told that eating junk food is bad for me, so I've cut it right down, and I try every day to eat right and get lots of vitamins into me, especially fish oil.
Now these 'experts' are saying that all the pills I'm popping and foods I'm eating are doing nothing?
We live in a world where food is in plentiful supply, where convenience is what drives what we put in our mouths. Gone are the days of hunting to eat, unless of course you're watching Bear Grylls dump a bunch of people on an island somewhere.
I know that we should all eat more fruit and veggies, but then I find out that some Chinese farmer decided to take a number two somewhere on his property and suddenly I have to throw out all the frozen blueberries in my freezer. Hang on, I paid for them!
Then we get told that this gives you cancer, that gives you cancer, everything gives you cancer, and according to the experts on A Current Affair it turns out that half the food in the fruit and veggie section at the supermarket has been in cold storage for months on end. What?
Thanks Tracey Grimshaw, once again you've proven to be the voice of reason for a whole nation.
What would I do without you? Oh look, a dodgy builder who ripped off a pensioner! Grab the pitchfork. Kill! Kill! Kill!
I'm fast approaching 50, and plan to be around for another 50 years, so can someone tell me in 2016 what I should be putting in my body, cos right now I'm starting to think the only way I can have a long and healthy life is to roam around the Tasmanian Wilderness in a loin cloth and a long beard living off what Mother Nature provides me with. Raw, natural and organic.
Either that, or I just want these 'experts' to make up their minds what is and isn't good for me.
In saying that, I look forward to the day when they decide Botox will kill you, as it will be a blast to see The Kardashians go into a blind panic.
That's one scientific innovation I'm looking forward to.
