Daylight's grab for sunglasses lands him in court
A SPLIT-second decision to take his eyes off the road and reach for a pair of sunglasses while driving landed a Rockhampton man in court yesterday after he caused a traffic crash.
Darren Wayne Daylight pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention in Rockhampton Magistrate's Court.
The court heard that on April 11 last year Daylight was driving through the intersection of Denison St and Denham St when his sunglasses fell on the floor.
He looked down to retrieve them, and as he took his attention from the road he rear-ended a parked car.
Damage was sustained to both vehicles, with Daylight telling the court his car was written off after the accident.
Daylight was fined $100 plus ordered to pay $93.60 in court costs.
