Sun rises for new Fantasea vessel

IT'S smooth sailing on board Fantasea Adventure Cruising's new vessel.

Sunrise is the new 24-metre high-speed catamaran that was welcomed to the beautiful waters of the Whitsunday's earlier this month.

She is equipped to carry up to 170 passengers and incorporates two levels, the top being a lounge area and the downstairs level for general seating.

The vessel has been fitted with state-of-the-art technology including Ride Control, a feature which helps to stabilise the vessel at sea and minimise the effects of motion sickness.

Fantasea Adventure Cruising general manager Rob Addis said it was important as a national award-winning tourism operator to provide the best possible fleet to service the Whitsundays tourism industry.

"The Campbell family are continuing to invest in the region and this new vessel is part of their commitment to providing the ultimate tourism experience in the Whitsundays," Mr Addis said.

Sunrise will join the company's fleet of high-speed, multi-hull boats, which offer a regular express service between Hamilton Island and the mainland as well as day tours to island resorts, Whitehaven Beach and the company's Great Barrier Reefworld platform at Hardy Reef.

The vessel was constructed in Brisbane by Aluminium Marine and commenced service on September 9.

Sunrise will be used primarily to service The Great Barrier Reef full day tour and for private charters.
