SHIP and submarine building company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems Australia will be coming to Gladstone to discuss building parts of Australia's future submarine fleet.

The shipping company will be putting in a tender bid for the Australian Government's future submarine program.

The SEA 1000 project will be the largest Defence procurement program in Australia's history and represents an investment in order of $50 billion.

As part of the bid the company is touring regions in Queensland to see if local businesses are interested in becoming part of the supply chain for the manufacturing of the submarines.

On behalf of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems Australia, Peter Black will lead the briefings that will travel to, Gympie, Gin Gin, Gladstone, Rockhampton and Emerald.

The information sessions are expected to be in November but dates are yet to be locked in.
