Students urged to be mindful in school
WITH child anxiety at an all-time high, it's becoming increasingly more important for students to remain mindful, particularly during a potentially stressful school day.
Mindfulness can help reduce stress in day-to-day activities. Mindfulness is the act of remaining present in a situation without stressing about future activities or past worries.
According to CEO of Smiling Mind, Dr Addie Wootten, practising mindfulness can enhance students' ability to perform academically.
"The future of work will rely on our ability to adapt, innovate and work creatively without defined borders or even stable workspaces,” Dr Wootten said in a statement.
Support for mindfulness programs in school curriculum has grown in Australia over the last five years, according to Dr Wootten.
The doctor believes that mindfulness and de-stressing practices "underpin essential social and emotional learning”.
