RIGS are best admired in motion for their brute strength and pulling power, except when it comes to the world of strongmen and women - they like their trucks standing still.
Mason DANNATT from stand or submit is one of these people.
Specialising all things great and.... Even greater, Mason works as the Australian Strong Man competition equipment manager outside of running his business.
His biggest responsibility for the event, is sourcing trucks to be pulled in the competitions.
The tougher looking the better.
This year Mason picked a Mack for the crowd pleaser.
"This was the first time they had run the event at the Melbourne show for a few years," he said.
"We needed one that looked tough but also fitted into the wood chop shed."
"We had a bit to do with CMV in the past and they helped us out this time."
"The make really engaged the crowd, I got to drive it on the day and was tempted to head off," he laughed.
The competitors were expected to pull the truck using a harness and the sheer power of their legs.
"The 10 tonne Mack prime mover, is considered relatively light for a truck pull," Mason explained.
For heavier vehicles competitors have the assistance of a rope.
Competitors have been known to pull vehicles north of 20 tonnes.
"Some of the international guys have even pulled planes in excess of 30 tonnes," he said.
Other challenges for competitors include a steel beam called the log which often weighs around 250kg, and Atlas Stones which are balls of solid concrete that can weigh over 200kg.
Passionate about his sport Mason finds himself sizing up cars and trucks wherever he goes.
"Everything I look at I wonder if it is something we can pull or lift.
"You would be surprised what the human can actually move, just do it slowly," he said
"But it needs to be flat, even the strongest man in the world can't pull a truck up hill.
NSW based strongman and family man, Eddie Williams was crowned Australia's Strongest Man 2017 on the day.
Eddie stretched his lead over the competition by pulling the Mack Superliner, the required distance of 20m in only 29.81 seconds, a whole 6 seconds quicker than his nearest rival!
