Storms cloud eclipse but bring widespread rain
STORMS may have hidden the super blue blood moon on Wednesday night - but some managed to see the rare spectacle through the clouds.
Kingaroy astronomer James Barclay managed to take a snap of the moon when it was about 85% within the Earth's shadow.
Mr Barclay said taking the photo was "hide and seek”.
"The cloud was coming and going. I was pretty stoked,” he said.
The lunar eclipse coincided with a supermoon and blue moon for the first time in 150 years.
The storms covered the lunar eclipse but brought much-needed rain to the South Burnett.
About 40mm of rain fell at the Kingaroy Airport and hundreds of homes were left without power.
