TODAY marks one year since a loved grandfather vanished after wandering away from his Tinbeerwah home.
His daughter-in-law Jenny Farr is still seeking answers to the heartbreaking mystery as she grieves the reduction of her family from five to two in just six tough months.
Jack Farr - who has a form of dementia where he sees vivid imagery, often of people he once knew - had wandered away previously, but this time he never returned.
Despite extensive land, air and dam searches in the five days before Christmas last year, emergency services could not find the 88-year-old.
Mrs Farr hopes someone will read this and recall picking him up on Sunrise Rd to drop him at a train station.
"Police have had absolutely no leads or ideas," she said.
"They say it's unusual to have no trace like this.
"My hope is that by his story going in the press again, it will trigger someone's memory.
"I hope someone comes up with miracle answers and he turns up or I wake up and it's all a nightmare."
Jack lost his wife Nona on November 12 last year after she fell ill.
At the time, their son Wayne was terminally ill and undergoing chemotherapy for bowel cancer.
Wayne died in April, leaving Mrs Farr and daughter Lindel.
While Jack's disappearance has been on the backburner as they grieve, she is still hoping someone holds the key to the mystery.
"Jack came from Sydney at Warwick Farm and we had hoped he might have headed there," she said.
"My stepson comes from rural NSW and he says it's not unusual for families to take people in no questions asked.
"But who knows what he's seen in his mind when he wandered off."
Mrs Farr said police were now preparing a report for the coroner.
