Stars shine for awards

THE red carpet will be rolled out for Rose City’s business stars tomorrow night for the 2011 Heritage Business Excellence Awards.

A whopping 41 entries were judged on Monday and the event has all but sold out.

Aside from the formalities, the awards night promised to be a star-studded affair, with a ‘Hollywood’ theme.

Also proving to be a coup is Noelene Luck from Duggan’s Camera Centre running a photo booth, where guests can pose in their get-up, with Daily News photographers also on hand to capture all the award winners throughout the night.

Awards committee president Peter Read said the fact the night was a sell-out was evidence of how much work had been put into the night.

“The team effort this year of the committee has been incredible,” Mr Read said.

The committee consisted of all local business and community identities: Chairman Peter Read, treasurer Phil Barker, secretary Casandra Garvey and hard-working members Louise de Lissa, Danielle Cassels, Tracy Vellacott, Helen Lewis and Donna Neale-Arnold.

Details:

The 2011 Heritage Business Excellence Awards will be held at King’s Theatre at the Warwick RSL. Red carpet arrivals start at 6pm, with the awards kicking off at 7pm.

Grab Monday’s edition of the Daily News for a full list of winners and photos from the night.

Some ideas for your costume:

  • Think outside the square – while Marilyn Monroe will be a popular choice, why not think of a lesser-known Hollywood star to come as?
  • Think of your favourite movie and come dressed as your favourite character, instead of the actor/actress
  • Make it colourful and most of all glamorous
  • Remember to smile for the paparazzi!
