St George Police investigate a series of break-ins in Surat

FOUR businesses in Surat were hit by thieves last weekend in what St George Police describe as "confident job."

It is not known by police exactly what was taken but there are possible links to similar style break-ins in the central region of Queensland.

Though this link does not eliminate the possibility that local thieves are responsible, Snr Sgt Paul Tabrett of the St George Police told the Balonne Beacon.

Meanwhile in St George on Tuesday and Wednesday nights there was a series of motor vehicle break-ins at the Balonne Motel and Kamarooka Caravan Park.

Through the viewing of CCTV footage taken at the scene police were able to identify a 28-year-old St George man.

He was arrested, remanded in custody and will appear in Dalby local court today.

Anyone with information relating to the break-ins in Surat are urged to call St George Police on 4620 3033, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or PoliceLink on 131 444.
