Spiderman art thief 'had it easy'

AN AGILE art thief had Spiderman- like abilities but didn't need to them to swipe more than $141 million of masterpieces from a Paris museum, a court was told on Monday.

Vjeran Tomic, 49, is accused of stealing five paintings, including a Matisse and a Picasso, after breaking into the Museum of Modern Art in May 2010.

Tomic had only to break a small padlock and a pane of glass to nab the paintings, and even though three guards were on duty at the time, the art thief was able to evade them because the alarm was waiting on a repair.

The trial continues.
