MORE than $29million will be injected into schools of the southwest and Darling Downs after the State Government handed down the 2019/20 State Budget.

The funding was part of a record $1.464billion state school infrastructure spend.

Education Minister Grace Grace said $29.3million has been allocated to build new facilities and spruce up existing facilities across the area, supporting about 84 jobs.

"The 2019 Budget is another demonstration of the government's commitment to delivering the regional infrastructure and services our growing state needs,” Ms Grace said.

"It's also great to see schools receiving refurbishment projects to transform old classroom areas into contemporary learning spaces.”

Ms Grace said the budget would include increased funding of $100million over four years for priority state school air-conditioning projects which will bring total funding to $191 million over five years.

"This will include urgent replacement of air-conditioning units in schools in the Cooler Schools Zone and other priority air-conditioning projects identified through a review of state school air-conditioning needs.”
