South Burnett towns to get faster coverage

TWO South Burnett towns will soon benefit from better mobile 4G coverage through the Federal Government's Mobile Black Spot Programme.

Cherbourg and Tingoora are among 31 Queensland towns set to receive a Telstra 4G small cell base station.

Telstra country wide area manager Darren Clark said rolling out the small cell technology was part of a commitment by Telstra to expand 4G coverage to 99% of the population by June 2017.

"The growing use of mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets is changing the way we live. We don't just make calls with them anymore, we do so much more," Mr Clark said.

"The introduction of fast 4G data services via a small cell in these locations will mean residents will be able to access social media and video on the go for the first time as well as increased opportunities for local businesses."
