South Burnett downs determined Toowoomba

AUSSIE RULES: South Burnett have rocketed up the Allied Pickford's Cup ladder following a hard-fought 17.13 (115) to 12.7 (79) win over Toowoomba at the weekend.

The game was well in the balance heading into the final term as South Burnett clung on to a nine-point lead, before they were able to click into another gear, booting home six last quarter goals to take a 36-point victory.

Joseph Amery booted home four goals, taking their record to 3-1.

The only side to inflict defeat on South Burnett is the South Toowoomba Bombers, and they continued their unbeaten run with a 15.17 (107) to 5.8 (38) win over Highfields.

The Bombers were in control from start to finish and they will now prepare to face Goondiwindi next week.

The Hawks will be ready for that encounter, after picking up a handy 16.8 (104) to 10.6 (66) win over Warwick.

Despite trailing by nine points heading into the final term, Goondiwindi was relentless when it counted, outscoring the Redbacks 49-2.

Adam Scoble was at his electrifying best, kicking eight goals.

The Dalby Swans took home the Travis Mitchell Cup on Friday night with a 12.20 (92) to 10.8 (68) victory over Chinchilla.

The win serves as the Swans' first for 2018 after the defending division two premiers struggled with numbers and injuries in the early part of the season.

In the weekend's only Westpac Cup fixture, the Toowoomba Tigers maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 14.13 (97) to 0.1 (1) defeat of South Burnett. Ruckman Brigette Fee was dynamic in the midfield with four goals.
