I'm sick of politicians fumbling in the dark

OPINION: Politicians from near and far - listen up. You are treating us, the Australian people, like you are a fumbling teenage boy going on his first date.

Confused, directionless and very intimidated.

Australia is looking for a leader. For eight years now, we've been looking for consistency.

Someone who is charismatic, bold, confident and trustworthy. It's not that difficult.

I think I can accurately speak for most of the nation when I say the qualities of a politician and a partner are not that different.

The recent leadership spill attempt marks the beginning of the end for Tony Abbott, I hate to predict.

If he spent more time unifying his party instead of bad mouthing Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd a few years ago, maybe he wouldn't be stuck in the same puddle of mud.

In a cruder, less ladylike fashion - get your ***t together!

We would prefer a budget deficit over a misguided and lost prime minister.

We would prefer a leased port over a directionless parliament.

We want someone to guide us through the next three years.

Someone to tell us it's going to be all right.

Australia is sick of waking up to the news that we may have a new leader in a few hours, through zero consultation.

It's like being told "we are going to have a break" by your boyfriend.

I urge local, state and federal politicians to wind back the clock a little to their first date.

Fumbling around wasn't attractive then, it sure as hell isn't now either.
