Local mentors to guide junior rugby league teams

SEVERAL Gladstone mentors will play a big part in the development of the Central Queensland Capras junior rugby league teams in the divisional trials in Kingaroy from June 10-12.

Luke Peachey is one of three who will form the coaching team of the Capras' under-16 boy's and girl's sides, under-14 boy's and girl's and the under-13 team.

He will be the under-13 team's first aid officer, but will also get to have input toward the youngsters' development.

"There will be four regions competing," Peachey said of the trials that will be in Barcaldine from May 20-22.

"They are Gladstone, Central West, Central Highlands and Rockhampton.

"The Gladstone teams have not been finalised and they will be cut from squads of 30 to 19."

Peachey has been involved since 2013; he says it has brought him a lot satisfaction.

Fellow Gladstone resident Todd Hansen will coach the under-14 side while the under-16 girl's mentor will be local Brad Eggmolesse.
