Search continues for missing 17

THE search resumed yesterday for 17 people feared killed when a ferry caught fire near the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. At least 23 people died after the vessel carrying 200 people was engulfed in flames. At least 10 people were taken to hospital and 98 people rescued. The fire occurred during a trip from Muara Angke to Tidung, a resort island in the Kepulauan Seribu chain - also known as The Thousand Islands. Police said the cause was a short circuit on a power generator. It is believed to have happened soon after the vessel's departure. - INM
