Schapelle Corby may be out of jail by mid-2015

DRUG trafficker Schapelle Corby could be out of prison in 18 months after the Indonesian corrections board took two months off her sentence as part of a Christmas tradition.

The board rewards those inside the Kerobokan jail in Bali for good behaviour.

This latest reduction in sentence follows the board's recommendations in August that Corby be given early release from the notorious prison, although Agence France-Presse reports this process has become bogged down by paperwork.

AFP reports she could be free by mid-2015 if she continues to have her sentence reduced.

Corby was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2005 after smuggling 4.1kg of marijuana into Bali in 2004.
